Stretching In the Morning Vs Stretching In The Evening: 3 Benefits For Each

Stretching In The Morning Vs Stretching In The Evening

Stretching is an important part of a healthy workout ritual, it allows for the muscles to remain flexible, strong, and healthy for everyday use. Without it, the muscles would become tight and increase the risk for injury, as well as weaken the muscle overall. When it comes down to it, are you someone that would rather stretch in the morning? Or is stretching in the evening something you would rather do? There are benefits to both, read more about the benefits to both stretching in the morning vs stretching in the evening.

Stretching In The Morning

Rise and shine! Everyone has a different schedule and stretching can be a great benefactor in helping you wake up and get yourself moving.

There are plenty of benefits to stretching right after you wake up! But will these benefits be better than stretching in the evening? You can decide for yourself.

Benefit 1: Improve Circulation

Stretching in the morning can be a great way to improve your circulation. During sleep, both your brain and muscles are at rest. Therefore, when you wake up, it is important to get your blood flowing and mind stimulated to help wake you up and get you moving.

Thus, stretching in the morning will encourage your body to start circulating blood throughout your body. All this to help you get ready to be active and move during your day.

Benefit 2: Provides Energy Throughout The Day

Got an early start to the day? Or maybe you just aren’t a morning person and find it difficult to get your day started. Stretching in the morning is also great for providing your body energy to help you wake up and get your day started so that you are well equip to take on the day.

Benefit 3: Improve Posture

Notice your posture lacking from sitting at a desk all day? Stretching in the morning can also benefit and improve your posture. By stretching after waking up, you are helping relax your muscles that would otherwise be tense. Having tense muscles is what can cause us to have poor posture. Therefore, when you stretch in the morning, you are helping relax and lengthen your back muscles and improve your posture.

Stretching In The Evening

Maybe you’re a night owl, and the evening is a better suited time for you to focus on stretching and preventing your body from injury. That’s great! There are also plenty of benefits to stretching in the evening.

After reading the benefits of stretching in the evening, you’ll be able to decide if you think it’s better for you to stretch in the morning, or to stretch in the evening.

Benefit 1: Improve Quality Of Sleep

Restful sleep is the best kind of sleep. By stretching in the evening, you may find that your quality of sleep has improved immensely. It may improve because of the stretches releasing built up tension that are in the shoulders, neck, and even in our legs for being on them for long periods of time throughout the day.

Benefit 2: Lower Stress Levels

Our day life can tend to get pretty stressful. Similar to how stretching can help relieve the built up tension in our body, stretching in the evening can also help alleviate and minimize any stressors that have weighed us down throughout our day at work. Therefore, with the proper stretches, you may find your level of stress significantly lower before bed.

Benefit 3: Prevent Injury

Overall, the main goal of stretching is to help reduce the chance of an injury occurring. By stretching in the evening, the percentage chance of an injury occurring is significantly reduced than if there was no stretching. Plus, there is nothing worse than a calf cramp waking you up in the middle of the night.

Stretching in the evening to help prevent injury is great to ensure that your body is moving at a normal range of motion and staying loose and flexible to keep you safe and healthy.

Keep On Stretching!

Whether you are stretching at in the morning or in the evening, there are a variety of stretches that can benefit you and make a positive impact. These stretches in total do not need to take more than 5 to 10 minutes to get results. Just remember to take it slow and easy while stretching because you’re either just waking up, or about to go to bed. Either way, the muscles are not ready for anything intense.
